10 Ways to Love or Kill Your Tree

There are many things that you can do to ensure the health of your tree. Unfortunately, there are also many things that you do that will kill your tree.

10 WAYS TO LOVE A TREE

1. Select for four-season appeal.
2. Match the tree with the site.
3. Buy healthy, quality plants.
4. Dig wide planting holes and plant no deeper than it was growing.
5. Remove synthetic burlap, twine, etc.
6. Keep mulch and equipment away from the trunk.
7. Water during dry weather.
8. Inspect often for disease and insects problems.
9. Avoid trenching and adding fill soil.
10. Practice natural target pruning.

10 WAYS TO KILL A TREE

1. Top it.
2. Plant large trees in small places.
3. Choose a tree just for the flowers only.
4. Buy the cheapest plant.
5. Dig a small planting hole.
6. Plant it too deeply.
7. Water every day.
8. Pile mulch around the trunk.
9. Add fill soil over the roots.
10. Make flush pruning cuts.
