Some resources that might help you prepare for the Envirothon forestry competition:

"The Dictionary of Forestry" by John A. Helms, Society of American Foresters has all of the forestry terms.

"So You Want To Be In Forestry" by the Society of American Foresters is a good career brochure.

Project Learning Tree offers two high school modules entitled "Focus on Forests" and "Forest Ecology." Both are excellent resources and have hands-on activities; however, you must complete a six-hour PLT workshop to have access to use these modules. Call the Division of Forestry at 502-564-4496 or e-mail Jennifer L. Turner for further information about scheduling a workshop or visit our PLT page.

Foresters and rangers from the Daniel Boone National Forest, Kentucky Division of Forestry and University of Kentucky's Department of Forestry and Cooperative Extension Service are available to help with hands-on learning as well as resources.

To schedule a forester to visit your classrooms call the Kentucky Division of Forestry district office that serves your county.
